The Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) has released an economic update for the construction industry. Here are some of the highlights:
- Private nonresidential construction spending inched down in August
- Spending on private residential construction was 13 percent higher than the level of construction recorded in August 2007
- Public nonresidential construction was 7.7 percent higher than the level recorded in August 2007
- Residential private construction increased slightly from July 2008 to August 2008, but is still down 28.4 percent from August 2007
